Sitting here thinking how I'm already writing "2018" on all my papers and filing documents away under this new year is unbelievable. 2017 went by in a flash and was filled with major milestones for me. From living my childhood dream of graduating college and finding a big kid job in the city (Manhattan), to moving out to my own place and even removing my braces (finally!).Perhaps it's the old saying that once you reach 21, the years will fly. Your twenties are supposed to be the best years of your life right? Or is it your thirties? People need to make up their minds. For my sake, let's agree that every year holds something special, thus making it the best in its own special way.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Two thousand seventeen was a year of personal growth for me. I took a step back from the world of social media for a bit, minus the occasional Instagram updates. Hey, a girl has to find some creative outlet. I even took a step back from a lot of my older relationships to focus on newer and more recent ones. Kind of a detox. Now a lot of people might look at this as me cutting them out of my life because they're not worth my time, but are those really the types of friends and relationships that you want to invest in? Now I'm no relationship expert but I think the relationships that are worth investing in are those who don't look at the negatives to create drama in their life, but who will be understanding. And at the end of 2017 I was grateful to know which individuals in my life didn't merely look at me as simply a character in their story to give them attention.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Every type of relationship is important. From the ones you build with your family, friends, co-workers and your significant other. As clichè as it is, time is precious. You saw how fast 2017 flew by. Make sure every bit of it counts. Because you, too, need to set aside some time to focus on the relationship you build with yourself. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One reason why I've decided to pick up blogging again after a hiatus of about a year and a half is to actually improve my writing and communication skills. For all of my life starting from Kindergarten to the end of college, I've always had some kind of writing class. Whether writing was the focus of it or not, I still had to take the time to spill my thoughts onto paper. If you've been keeping up with me or have done an "A+" job at stalking me within the last hour, you'll know that one of the only times that I've done some type of writing--outside of work--is writing Yelp reviews.<br />
<br />
As I've grown up, I realized there was no administered rule that on January 1st of every year, I had to have list of new year's resolutions ready to go otherwise I would be a screw-up for the rest of the year. I used to write a checklist and post it on my bedroom wall to constantly remind myself of the goals I was expected to accomplish by the end of the year. Any boxes left unchecked got carried over to next year's list and so forth. 2017 was the first year I retired the list myth and decided to give each year, going forward, a theme or concept to aim for like taking better care of myself or being more available for my family, friends and loved ones.<br />
<br />
Entering 2017 I didn't know what to expect. I just graduated college the past December, didn't have a signed job offer and my family relationship was at its all-time lowest. All I knew was that I wanted to make the people around me proud and that started with me picking myself up.<br />
<br />
Surround yourself with people who love and support you! It's a simple lesson to tell someone but it's one that I've come to learn the power of this past year. I won't get into the <i>nitty-gritty </i>details because my goal for this post was not to have your eyes glued to the screen for hours on end. Let's just say that I'm forever grateful for the individuals who have stuck by my side through the whole year and not just for the best parts. Thank you and I look forward to taking on 2018 and all it has to offer.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you guys aren't already aware, I have been insanely obsessed with smoothie bowls. The whole idea of being meticulous with how I arrange each topping and all the colors and flavors there are for me to play around with is just all too cool and fun for me. So now that you are either double aware or just recently aware of this, it should be of no surprise that breakfast was a crafted smoothie bowl and so was lunch for me (<i>heh heh</i>). On a side note, I also made eggs and bacon! Can never go wrong with that combo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pYMhqHcTcfg/V7G1OIoIlnI/AAAAAAAASCo/dGzJd93ueYkaz1D1o2yS-VLNrEm1wDoHgCLcB/s1600/0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pYMhqHcTcfg/V7G1OIoIlnI/AAAAAAAASCo/dGzJd93ueYkaz1D1o2yS-VLNrEm1wDoHgCLcB/s640/0.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Almost immediately after finishing breakfast, me and my sister and her boyfriend went to check out the newly released movie, Suicide Squad, in theaters. The movie wasn't amazingly amazing but a whole lot better than the 27-percent rating that it got on Rotten Tomatoes. Overall I thought it was a good movie.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After the movie, we got straight home, whipped up a quick lunchie and headed on the road where I found myself immersed in Sudoku puzzles and distasteful tracks one after the other for nearly three hours.Finally arrived around 6:00 p.m. and promptly made our way to the pool.</div>

Yay for team coffee! Which apparently only consisted of me and Mr Kim. Much better than having no one on my side because the last time that happened I had to rummage the house for chocolate as a source of energy booster for my mornings. Breakfast was a good o'classic. Scrambled eggs, diced potatoes and turkey bacon. Okay maybe not so classic but lets pretend the diced potatoes were hashed potatoes and the turkey bacon was pork bacon for just a moment. There's nothing against dreaming a bit right folks? Oh yeah and nothing against a little dessert after breakfast right? Just a small tasting of my friend's green tea frappe.</div>

Got in some Pokémon hunting. Checked out the local H-Mart. Grabbed some much coveted soup dumplings for lunch. Got in some more Pokémon hunting. Grabbed bingsoo (Korean shaved ice) for post lunch dessert. Some more Pokémon hunting. To another local H-Mart we go with mega loads of samples to go around. And finally back to the house! <i>Whew!</i></div>

This was our last day so not much was going on. Breakfast was a duplicate of Saturday's (scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, and turkey bacon). Checked out the mall, grabbed lunch at a Taiwanese joint that my sister wanted to introduce her boyfriend to, checked out another mall, and back on the road we were.<br />

Lucky you if your hair is always cooperative and easy to manage because the type of product you trust your hair with can be a huge game changer. In terms of hair products, I don't necessarily go all out with the fancy products like investing in hair gels, moisturizer, and whatnot (though sometimes I do wonder if I should). Usually I just use whatever is conveniently in the bathroom which is only really hair oil to repair damaged hair with all the hair dye chemicals and heat I have put into my hair in past years.<br />
<br />
Likewise, I'm pretty picky when it comes to the flat iron I use because the texture of my hair can be somewhat difficult to work with since it's not exactly the most luscious hair for flat irons to glide through.<br />
<br />
Two things that I do keep in mind when looking for the right hair flat iron are: (1) it is a <b>digital flat iron</b> and (2) it is a <b>ceramic flat iron</b>. A digital flat iron makes it easier for me to control the heat temperature that is being used on my hair which is important because too much heat can potentially burn it off yo. A ceramic flat iron usually gives my hair a smoother feel because it glides along my hair more easily than other materials.<br />
<br />
Now that the background informative stuff is done and over with, onto the review. I recently got my hand on <a href="http://amzn.to/1WbUSb8" target="_blank">this</a> (<span style="background-color: white; color: #212121;"><a href="http://amzn.to/1WbUSb8"><b>http://amzn.to/1WbUSb8</b></a></span>) hair straightener from Kissemoji and here is a breakdown from my personal experience with it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nX9pLsR-4nE/V0Tml9RD2TI/AAAAAAAAMLw/mnjr7Wb8_30V0C7-3YI-_4VKqboVKB1fACLcB/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nX9pLsR-4nE/V0Tml9RD2TI/AAAAAAAAMLw/mnjr7Wb8_30V0C7-3YI-_4VKqboVKB1fACLcB/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This isn't a bad flat iron but it did take me longer to straighten all my hair than the one I currently own. At first I thought it was because the temperature only reached up to 220 degrees until I realized that it was 220 degrees Celsius not Fahrenheit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Also, the outer part feels like rubber which might make it a little tough for you to use this flat iron to wave or curl your hair. But overall, I do like the outer rubber feel of it and how light weight it is.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Personally I would recommend this flat iron if you have thin hair or little hair because I have both thick and a lot of hair. So unless I'm not rushing to get ready, I would opt out of this one and grab my current flat iron. Otherwise, on a daily basis if you aren't in any major rush then this flat iron wouldn't be so bad. Plus the cord can turn 360 making it less of a hassle for when you're curling your hair.</div>

Composing a salad bowl is such a pleasing activity. You get to have fun playing around with so much colors and experimenting with different ingredients to incorporate each day that you end up feeling just as refreshing as the bowl itself. And the best part is that your body can enjoy it too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This is actually my first time throwing in pistachios since I normally grab almonds to throw in and I was not displeased whatsoever. It also led me to come to the realization of what a great combo pistachios and avocados make. Pair those two in any salad and it brings a perfect balance of colors to your salad bowl.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
There are a ton of mix textures in this salad bowl that you would think it would make for a distasteful salad bowl. However, I think that's what made it all the more delightful to eat; simply how exotic it was in a sense. It was fun putting this bowl together and a joy to eat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
p.s. I was hesitant to toss in pistachios because I like to eat my salads with chopsticks <i>(I know, so Asian of me)</i> but they weren't that bad to pick up. My chopstick skills are probably just that on point.</div>

And I'll be frank. Usually when I'm out at a breakfast joint, a breakfast bagel isn't normally the option I go for. Yet I have been craving and obsessing over them for the longest time. I know, it doesn't make much sense, but my mind works in weird ways.<br />
<br />
Nonetheless, there arises two problems with this little obsession of mine:<br />
1. This as an excuse to go out to a breakfast bagel joint every morning would be costly.<br />
2. Too much carbs in the morning tends to make me sleepy throughout the day.<br />
<br />
<i>My solution.</i> I just loaded my pantry with thin bagels. My favorite type of bagel being cinnamon raisin, followed by the everything bagel. So you guys can expect that I have and will be treating myself to some scrumptious homemade breakfast bagels every morning until the pantry runs out. In which case, I will have to reload on them.<br />
<br />
Oh yeah, and one of the best parts is that I don't need to worry about feeling either too full in the morning or too tired and sleepy throughout the day since these bagels are thin so they will do just the right amount of bagel-craving justice while not packing too much of a punch so early on in the day.<br />
<br />
The first breakfast bagel that I would like to share is my go-to <i>Cinnamon Raisin Breakfast Bagel with Avocado and Egg</i>. Super simple, and quick and easy to make for a hasty morning.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BgVi7PdmjiE/VrAo-a2JwwI/AAAAAAAAHkY/n_dN2OWpG_0/s1600/JANUARY.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BgVi7PdmjiE/VrAo-a2JwwI/AAAAAAAAHkY/n_dN2OWpG_0/s1600/JANUARY.gif" /></a></div>
January will always be a wild month for me. Especially as a college student with the first half of the month being winter break and the later half being the start of the spring semester, which makes it a groggy transition compared to the three to four months of break from spring semester into autumn semester students typically get from the summer. Not only that but, being that it's the first month of the new year, it's the time of year when everyone's trying to stay on task with their resolutions. Normally I would compile a nice list of five to ten resolutions but I figured that I would just keep it nice and simple this year. Go through each day with a more optimistic mindset! And I owe this one to a good friend.<br />
<br />
<i>"No matter how bad things seem to be, it can always be worse. Smile daily and laugh frequently because life is a beautiful thing."</i><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 1st, 2016 - Happy New Year!</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Did someone say, "cheese and sausages with crackers"? Yes please and that's exactly what we chowed down on for lunch basically throughout this entire day while kicking back and finally knocking out <i>Kill Bill 2! </i>In truth, it didn't feel like new years all too much with the warm weather. Heck I was able to walk outside wearing a skirt and no stockings and a jacket without looking like a mad woman, which technically isn't all that rare of an occurrence.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0U1vlwpaVLs/VrEx20aodDI/AAAAAAAAHmc/KW4whXAwH74/s1600/new%2Byear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0U1vlwpaVLs/VrEx20aodDI/AAAAAAAAHmc/KW4whXAwH74/s640/new%2Byear.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Spent the afternoon editing some video projects while everyone else was fairly occupied playing Mario Party. Once the clock struck 5pm, it was time to get cooking! You guys didn't seriously think that we would just allow the holiday to go by without a magnificent feast made for kings and queens did you?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 3rd, 2016 - Hair transformation</u></div>
<span style="text-align: justify;">Every new year I like to make little changes here and there to make it feel like an actual new year a smidge bit more. And for a while I did keep track of all the changes I've made so I could see the progression throughout the years until I realized that there were too many changes at times in a single year. I mean hey, a girl can try something new, not be so fond of it, and go back to the way things were right? So no crime committed there.</span><br />
<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span>
<span style="text-align: justify;">Red has been one of my all time favorite colors! Is it because it makes everything look extra delicious? At least that's what studies have shown, but hey who knows? It's also one of those colors </span>that are deemed more appropriate for your hair as opposed to having my parents waking up to me with bubble gum pink hair. But for the longest time, I have been resistant to go red since it's been known to be a hard color to maintain and because I wasn't ready to give up ash blonde quite yet. So what did I do? I decided to go deep red for the top part of my hair! What can I say, I love the assortment of colors when my hair is braided. Got to take advantage of having long hair y'know! Plus, my friend has been pushing for me to cosplay as Yoko from<i> Gurren Lagann</i> so now I'm part way there!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 7th, 2016 - Brace face yo!</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I'm officially able to convincingly tell people that I am a 14-year old attending college! haha! Although some of my friends tell me that I already looked like a 14-year old prior to having my braces, but claiming that I'm a 12-year old in college is a bit less convincing don't you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-44q9nPbyxB0/VrEUa5u6WBI/AAAAAAAAHl8/L-031HNiZBU/s1600/brace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-44q9nPbyxB0/VrEUa5u6WBI/AAAAAAAAHl8/L-031HNiZBU/s640/brace.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anywho, Doc said it would take a minimum of six months with these bad boys on so, in keeping with my new year's resolution to be more optimistic, I'm going to have my fingers crossed and hope for the best. No harm in having a little bit of hope! Worst case, my college graduation photos would look more like junior high or high school graduation photos rather than college photos. But I guess that was somewhat inevitable already with me apparently having looked 14 years old already without the braces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 13th, 2016 - Happy Birthday Christina!</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Went out to Applebee's (half price appetizers? yes, please!) for a small birthday celebration for a good friend of mines from high school. Applebee's? No shame in embracing our poor college lifestyle yo! But you know what's more evident of us being college students? As college students we are constantly trying to juggle all sorts of crazy tasks, whether it be homework, chores, our daily morning routines, etc., in an attempt to make the most of our time. So not only was this a small birthday celebration but it was also our last reunion before it was time for everyone to part ways and go back to college for the new term. And, and, and?! It was my first time being formally introduced to her man. Crazy how much we have all grown since high school days.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 15th, 2016 - Star Wars movie date with "Big Head"</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Did I really wait practically an entire month to finally watch the seventh episode of Star Wars? No, that's ridiculous! In fact, me and my other Star Wars obsessed buddies watched it on premiere night, paired with my first time ever trying Chipotle, surprisingly, which was admittedly pretty damn good even though my friends criticized me for suckering in for the veggie bowl simply because it included avocado at no extra cost. <i>Ah-voh-cah-doh!</i> yo! How could I possibly turn that option down?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Even with braces on for already a week by this day, I figured that it would be safe for me to order an avocado salad to eat. And man oh man, boy was I wrong. The avocados were sure enough ripe, but apparently not ripe enough for my teeth to handle. Good thing Big Head was also a huge avocado fan otherwise I would cry (more than I already was because I couldn't eat them) seeing them go to waste.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d9xf30s2k-k/Vq_6cYBLNFI/AAAAAAAAHjo/BwFWyfK_KLQ/s1600/big%2Bhead.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d9xf30s2k-k/Vq_6cYBLNFI/AAAAAAAAHjo/BwFWyfK_KLQ/s640/big%2Bhead.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Long story short, me and Big Head here promised to watch the seventh episode of Star Wars together. However, some complications came up and I ended up losing contact with this geezer for a good two months. In which case, life moved on when miraculously out of the blues we got in touch together again and finally got around to fulfilling that promise on one of the last few days that the movie was going to be showing. See, miracles do happen! (:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 18th, 2016 - Starbucks coffee date with "Big Head"</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
As an extreme coffee lover, it is unfortunate that there are so few coffee places around where I am. The only convenient ones being all Starbucks, which really isn't so bad but a nice local coffee shop would, no doubt, be super nice for occasions like this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Last day that I would get to see this geezer, until who knows when, so we went out for a small intimate coffee date to catch up a bit on life. As hungry as he was, he still pushed for a coffee date knowing that my struggles to eat were so real with fresh braces on, which I appreciated so so SO much! Thank you, you old fart!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>January 19th, 2016 - First day of the semester</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Class sessions have officially resumed and I will admit, I was a bit down that I didn't get to encounter some super cool friends in any of my classes. Even running into them on campus in general proved to be quite the battle unless we actually scheduled a time and place to meet up.But you know what, there are still some pretty cool folks in my classes and none of my professors seem too one dimensional in terms of their personality so <i>woohoo!</i> Just got to stay on the positive side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Going to fast-forward a bit through the days since classes make up for most of them, if you guys don't mind.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>January 31st, 2016 - Summer in winter with coconut celebration</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This winter is probably one of the most bipolar seasons yet. Just last weekend we were hit with a massive snow storm with some neighboring places getting two feet of snow, then just this past weekend it was literally like spring time with temperatures touching mid-60s. And as if that wasn't enough to make it feel like spring and summer time, my parents came home with fresh coconuts because they were apparently on sale at the supermarket. All that was left was to just simply kick back, soak in the warm sunny weather, drink up some nice refreshing coconut, and relax like I'm in Hawaii!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-utS1YvUJNbc/VrFNlY4zQRI/AAAAAAAAHms/9WwhLZObYoo/s1600/coconuts.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="412" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-utS1YvUJNbc/VrFNlY4zQRI/AAAAAAAAHms/9WwhLZObYoo/s640/coconuts.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><i>Thank you January, and the people who were in it, for a memorable and amazing month!</i></span></div>

A pair of boobs! -> (.Y.)"<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_ihSiiOmGxo/Vqwwg1-MMxI/AAAAAAAAHXs/KBk85oF76F0/s1600/anigif.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_ihSiiOmGxo/Vqwwg1-MMxI/AAAAAAAAHXs/KBk85oF76F0/s640/anigif.gif" width="640" /></a></div>
Since the dawn of the Accelerated Reader program back in junior high to the rise of mandatory summer reading books in high school, I have been awfully sluggish at making room in my daily schedule to pick up a decent book and read. Now don't get me wrong. It's not that I have anything against reading because quite frankly who can, right? As overdone as it may sound, reading a good book is one of the best ways to just get your mind out of the old stress gutter of your personal life and escape to another life, whether you are being placed into a character's shoes or you are the almighty creepy overseeing creature of the story. Unless you have awesome taste in novels and are reading "The Martian," in which case you get both sides of the coin. Booyah yo! And as ridiculous as it may sound, there's more to love about this book than just simply that.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X_MMlYsNNTA/Vqw1nrdyNEI/AAAAAAAAHX8/LRu5akCJmDc/s1600/SAM_8033.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X_MMlYsNNTA/Vqw1nrdyNEI/AAAAAAAAHX8/LRu5akCJmDc/s640/SAM_8033.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Everything from the layout of this book to the protagonist, Mark Watney's lame and corny sense of humor was absolute! It's rare for me to come across a book where you could surely find me hiding in a corner with my face stuffed between the pages of the book, chuckling to myself like a creepy weirdo. Not that there is anything wrong with being a weirdo because in truth, this world would be all too dull if people like Watney didn't exist.<br />
<br />
Back to the book. Besides the totally sick cover, the main reason why I decided to make it one of my top priorities to finish reading this book was because of all the hype and buzz surrounding the 2015 film. With a Certified Fresh Tomato rating of 93% critic rating and 92% audience rating, what crazy person would not be anxious to check it off their "To Watch" list. Naturally, having been overly obsessed with how excellent the book was, I figured that if the film followed the same template as the book then it was sure to be a foolproof film especially with such high remarks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pJSNw7AQreA/Vq0nmQ1WJeI/AAAAAAAAHeE/QfMXbX3PUqg/s1600/film.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pJSNw7AQreA/Vq0nmQ1WJeI/AAAAAAAAHeE/QfMXbX3PUqg/s640/film.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Needless to say, I was a little more than just a smidgebit disappointed by the film. I won't get into all the little details as to how and why in case any of you have yet to watch or read it, but I will say that that the book for me was more than ten times better than the film for the following reasons:<br />
<br />
- Too much Hollywood fluff<br />
- Some major events were not included in the film (obstacles to the MAV?)<br />
- Events and actions were not explained enough for viewers who have not read the book<br />
- Disliked that it didn't allow viewers to progressively grow with Watney (700 Sols later? Really?)<br />
- Most of all, the ending did not follow the same story guideline as the book. How?!<br />
<br />
But who knows. My mind could be bias after having fallen in love with the book so much that my expectations for the film were a smidge too high. My friends who did not read the book prior to the film all tell me that it was worth all the buzz and ratings. Even friends who have read the book prior to watching the film still tell me that the film was superb. All I know is that the number one 2015 film for me is still Mad Max. And though The Martian film did not sweep me off my feet, the book certainly holds a special place in my heart with Mark Watney forever being one of my favorite novel characters.Teresa Vuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12486405567935097902noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439507280479522722.post-19019211304134700642016-01-23T20:09:00.000-08:002019-01-20T17:56:00.039-08:00Gambling Our Youth Away<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

It's officially the first snow class cancellation day this semester (or at least for me being one of the few rare suckers having a Saturday class) and it's just only begun this past Tuesday (January 19). Makes me wonder how many more of these days there are ahead of us this semester with all the rambling and debate about whether this winter will be a harsh and cold one or a more relatively warm one. Regardless of either, you can always expect to find me staring out the window like a true dog (1994 baby). And no, I'm not being a creepy neighbor (or at least I'd like to think that I'm not), it's just I can't help but find myself reminiscing on the good o'youthful days of me and my siblings running outside like brave warriors to play in the snow, heedless of how much snow there were. 0.5 inches? 20 inches? We didn't care. We'd savagely annoy our mom to let us out there. And then come in shivering with our cheeks all rosy, our noes sniffling like we just got done watching <i>Grave of the Fireflies</i>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-84JCIOyWsbY/VqQ7Aj3YGUI/AAAAAAAAHR0/40B4z6Dxn4Y/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: -1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-84JCIOyWsbY/VqQ7Aj3YGUI/AAAAAAAAHR0/40B4z6Dxn4Y/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After our mom would get finish cleaning us up, she'd always have something warm prepared for us to devour in an attempt to abolish all the cold in our systems. in this case that would be our beloved eldest sister, Rosy, who we could always count on to have something up her sleeves. Although to be fair, it's not just only whenever it's snowing outside. It could be the most beautiful day and we'd have a fancy-schmancy glass of fruit smoothie made for us. Only right for courageous warriors like us right? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xuOz8wOwocM/VqQ-E7LNAVI/AAAAAAAAHSA/QXvU-6xPFDc/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: -3em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xuOz8wOwocM/VqQ-E7LNAVI/AAAAAAAAHSA/QXvU-6xPFDc/s640/1.jpg" width="444" /></a></div>
Perhaps it's the thought of homemade warm goodies that gets me thrilled at the sight of waking up to snow regardless of how old or young I am. Or perhaps it's the thought of being able to rationalize with myself that it's okay to sit around watching movies and playing board/card games all day? Or maybe, just maybe, it's the thought of being snowed in with some of the coolest chumps in the world, my siblings heh!<br />
Oh man, it's ridiculous how much time has gone by and yet we can still enjoy and appreciate the same small tid bit stuffs as we did back in the days. And man, all the things that I would love to go back and tell my weirdo kid self. Oh whales, just got to look at everything with an optimistic perspective.<br />
Starting with me getting back to juggling this blog and getting it back up on its feet! Really looking forward to what 2016 has in store! So far so good!<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Ever since my parents trusted me buying clothes with my own money I have been known for hoarding up a massive scarf collection. It got so out of hand that my parents eventually told me I was forbidden to walk into the house with a new scarf. So you can imagine how difficult it was to have to put down every "perfect" scarf that I came across until the day that my parents felt my mind was mature enough to not "mindlessly" buy every single thing that I felt was a necessity in my closet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
However that did not stop my huge obsession with scarves years later. In fact, even through the scoring heats of Texas summer weather, scarves have remained one of my favorite go-to accessory.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Does my Dad still make comments about my scarf obsession? Yes. To this day, he still calls me crazy for wrapping my neck with a scarf in the heaty heat. And what would be my response to him? I'm just providing my neck with some friendly shade to protect it from the danger (the heat). </div>

How I managed to squeeze in five days of my adventure into one short video for the first part of this crazy summer mini series has managed to increasingly surprise me after working on the other later parts of the mini series these past days. One day was all I managed to muster in for the second part but man, there was way too many wacko footage for me to leave out. Plus, I was feeling a little more Japanese vibe for this day~</div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="338" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QqlgR_k88wk?rel=0&showinfo=0" width="600"></iframe><br />
The third part I actually managed to bump it up to two days (<i>whoohoo!</i>). If anything, I believe it's all in the music choice you make, which is also the hardest part for me. Either I have too many tracks in mind to narrow done to just a single track, or I just run a blank as to what song would be most fitting which sucks (ha) because a single video would end up stretching out to sometimes a week's worth of just playing around with different tracks and footage. In the end, you just have to choose whatever seems most fitting and wing with it, hoping everything will be aye'okay.<br />

Remember when I promised you guys a well-worth-it video diary of my travel to Central United States in an earlier post? Well, it turns out you guys will be in for more than just a video diary. <i>And now the feeling of eagerness and anxiousness have been inserted into your stomachs. </i>After much much reviewing of the handful of footage that I have harnessed over the past two weeks or so, I have decided to instead upload a series of parts (or mini episodes) of my summer road trip because a single video, my friend, would be like attempting to squeeze a pineapple down to the same size as that of a blueberry, while keeping all of its juicy flavors.<br />
<br />
Now without further ado, here's the first part/mini episode showing in 3...2...1! Enjoy!</div>

For the past couple of days I have actually been in Texas on a small family road trip vacation (wow, that actually sounded a lot wordier for me to describe than what it sounded in my mind ha) for about a week. And yes I know, I am pretty guilty for slacking on updating you guys about what's up with my life on my social media platforms but I usually am too exhausted to whip out my computer on vacation after running around with my camera 24/7. Literally. Being a photographer, videographer, and having to "supposedly" model for another camera can get kind of crazy sometimes. But hey, tell you what. I'll make sure that the video diary for this trip will be well worth it. <i>Shake on that.</i> </div>

There are a couple of things in this world that I would go crazy without, or better yet, my stomach would. And that my friends would be portabellas, or mushrooms in general. Ask my friends. Whenever we hit up a burger joint and there's a shroom burger, it's a must order for me. So if you're sucker for shrooms like I am then we're mad cool! If not, then would me telling you that they're also low in calories <i>*wink* *wink*</i> make it a little more convincing for you guys to eat them?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Anywho, the grocery store in my area recently had a huge sale for these mega size portabella caps so you guys could already guess from my mentioning earlier that I grabbed myself a few suckers to last my appetite for the next couple of days.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This is also, surprisingly, my first attempt at trying <b>Baked Portabellas with Eggs</b>, after many long devoted hours spent browsing Pinterest. No regrets because I have no idea what I was thinking not ever having had tried such a quick, simple, and satisfying recipe. Feel free to continue reading if you're interested in whipping some up for yourself.</div>

1. Remove all the "fun stuffs" inside the portabella cap<br />
2. Wipe the portabella clean with a wet cloth to avoid oversoaking<br />
3. Boil the portabella to reduce excess liquid<br />
4. Spread the exterior of the portabella with olive oil<br />
5. Toss in oven at 350F to broil<br />
6. Crack an egg inside the cap<br />
7. Bake at 400F until the egg reaches your desired cook level<br />
8. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper to taste<br />
9. Top with some cilantro if you wish<br />
10. Enjoy!<br />

In recent years, it has become a frequent habit of mines to go scavenging in the back of my parents' closet for <i>gold</i>. And no, not literal gold because that would make me of equal status to being an heiress of the Lannister family from Game of Thrones. But gold like authentic Lanvin bags being that they are authentic 80s and 90s clothes that my parents and the kid version of myself use to sport back in the retro days. Shopping without the hassle of getting in my car and spending a dime? What girl doesn't like that? Not to mention the best part being whenever I would walk outside the house with my new find goods, my parents would comment on how familiar some of my garments look, bringing back the good old times.</div>

If you have yet to experience a summer by the shore, then you, my friend, have yet to experience an actual summer. <i>Trust me</i>. Last summer, I basically spent it entirely in the Lone Star state of Texas and the weather was not so friendly as it is here in the lovely Garden state of New Jersey by the shore. Normally you would think that the wind would be a life savior but it honestly felt like a gust of air blown by a giant that you just hired to keep that luscious hair of yours, blowing in the summer air for a L'Oreal hair commercial. By golly, a breeze in Texas is nothing like a breeze by the shore. And boy did I learn that the harsh way last summer. Though I will admit that it definitely got me to appreciate being able to live the shore a whole lot more than I originally did prior to the previous summer, which is why you can expect me to make more frequent trips to the beach & boardwalk this summer than in the previous summers.</div>

Hello Rosy (if you're reading this, which I would most certainly be quite disappointed if you aren't), <b>HAPPY TWENTY-FOURTH BIRTHDAY!</b> So, though the event that these photos took place during are a days old, today is actually my <i>eldest</i> sister's birthday, so in actuality I'm not doing that shabby of a job publishing this post.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Moving forward, I'm sure by now you guys are probably eager to get some insider details on what went on during this <i>oh-so-special</i> surprise event. Quick breakdown. It took a lot of acting to pull off this birthday surprise. Hmm...perhaps I should pursue becoming an actress after my award-winning performance that day and the days prior to it <i>hohoho</i>. Sike! I would probably crack up in laughter after every awkward moment, which would result in a movie filled with laughter, and with a 1% rotten tomato rating as the worst comedy film in history.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Anyway, jokes aside, lets get down to business folks. It was a small intimate gathering consisting of the usual lovely bunch of siblings (both my sisters and two younger bros) + my sister's soon to be husband...do I hear church bells sometime within the next couple of years? Selected a nice brunch place because the food options are usually a little lighter than dinner and also because I'm a breakfast person, so I like my breakfast options without having to restrict everyone else.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

To be quite frank, back in the days when I was cool kid during my elementary years (oh man), I use to think that late April was one of the most perfect times to have a birthday. However, as the years went on, I've grown to feel indifferent about that thought. In high school, late April meant studying our buttocks off for AP Exams. In college/university, late April means studying our buttocks off for final exams. And hopefully post college will mean having the chance to enjoy the cherry blossom season in all its glory (peak bloom).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So far now, since I am still currently in college, here's a short video diary of my birthday celebration last month; a day well spent with friends! (: Enjoy!</div>

Cheers To Freedom!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Whoot! Whoot!</i> Teresa is back in the house and totally stoked to get this blog back up and running again! (: <i>Say what?!</i> I know, this spring semester went by both relatively fast and slow, which was perfectly fine for me because part of me wanted to get the semester done with and be able to soak in the beautiful summer weather that's to come here by the shore, yet I also wanted it to take its merry-o'time because I wasn't necessarily as stoked to have all my assignments due all so soon. Nonetheless, it's over, and the only things that I have due are the piles of projects and posts that I seriously need to get in for the blog; and what's better than to kick start it with a graduation post! Now before you guys start congratulating me, it wasn't me who graduated, but my good time friend, Nina.<b> **WARNING** </b>Beware of a possible major finger exercise coming up, as I will try my best not to go on a rampage of photos as a result of my excitement for being back.</div>

When this winter season first began, I honestly started thinking that perhaps it wouldn't be all too shabby y'know. Christmas and New Year's weather went ideal and in all honesty, the weather was quite consistent too! However, all that gradually started to change as a couple of weeks ago, we got hit by our first winter storm. Then just a couple of days later, we got hit with another one. And then another one. And welps, I guess we're just back our ordinary-crazy-bipolar weather here in Jersey.</div>

Happy Valentine's Day folks! As a gift to convey my love for you guys here's a video diary I had put together from my last weekend's adventure to the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, for a pretty spiffy car show. The video should just about cover most of the day's happenings. To be quite frank, most of the photos that I took, now that I look back at it, consist of mostly just cars because trying to get our butt's into a car, let alone a proper photo with a car, was like playing musical chairs, but with cars. And unfortunately, I was never quite that good at the game huhu. But good thing the game isn't so bad in other environments, like home sweet home, where you don't have to engage in an all out war with someone for a seat. So just lay back and relax in that snuggly seat of yours and enjoy the clip!<br />

How has twenty-fifteen been going for you guys? And yes, I know it has only been the third week of the new month but it's be a shame if I said I stayed cooped up in my room all day like an all out "otaku". Not that I'm not at heart...because the days after we got back from this little outing of ours, we immediately reverted back to being otakus, catching up with new episode releases from autumn season anime leftovers as well as new releases for the winter season (currently watching the second season of Durarara and the third season of Kuroko no Basket in regards to winter releases; no worries, I keep myself updated with this stuff). Anywho, I'll stop blabbing like the granny-I-already-am-right-now and let you guys check out the rest of this post. </div>

As you guys can see, or will see (depending on however big your monitor size may be or your zoom setting, my hair color is different! Now before you guys go on and compliment me on the supposed new do (aww shucks you guys don't have to), I have breaking news. Unfortunately, the change in hair color did not happen overnight; in fact, it is actually evident of how expired this outfit/lookbook post is ha. Rewinding all the way back to when I first decided to cut straight bangs, which was all the way back in mid October. And all the way back to when I first started realizing how beautiful of a color olive green is; my new go to autumn/winter color!</div>

A couple of weeks ago...no, scratch that yo...I'm not going to kid you guys, this is a pretty long and overdue post since it happened all last year; by overdue I really mean it's been about two weeks now since we had this trip. Anywho, for the past couple of years, me and my sisters have hosted our holiday friends reunion at our house, but this time around we decided to change things up a little bit and do something a little different. Do I hear road trip? Heck yeah, yo! And to the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia as well! I mean really now, what's a better destination than a city recognized for its art and brotherly love since we all love each other like siblings.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>p.s.</b> I apologize in advance for the somewhat lack of photos. I've been into capturing videos lately; so now in our group we have 2 1/4 photographers; the main photographers being Rosy and Jung with me being 1/4 photographer and 3/4 videographer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>p.s.s.</b> Hungry for food photos? Feel free to check out my Yelp profile for some good food porn and reviews for whenever you guys may be in the area. <i>*wink* *wink*</i> (; I have <i>way</i> too much food photos to upload that I would feel too guilty making you guys scroll through what seems like an endless number of photos <i>and</i> for making you guys hungry.</div>

I say "stray kids" not because I know I <i>may have</i> strayed from blogging over the course of twenty-fourteen but because me and my sisters just recently strayed away from home the past week on a little sisterhood outing for a bit before my winter recess comes to an ending. Truth be told, I feel like the little kid who cries wolf after repeatedly telling you guys that I have finally returned from a far, far away land to fulfill my duties of responsibly maintaining my blog after venturing out to save my knight and shining armored prince charming (not that the little kid who cried wolf belonged to a princess fairy tale or anything). Then again perhaps what I'm saying can prove to be quite a telling tale due to the fact that we just recently got hit by winter storm Frona and here I am wearing sunglasses and nothing but a button down, tank, and some good pair of denim jeans. That, or perhaps I'm just simply a mad woman.</div>
